Makkah Hotel Room Essentials for Pilgrims: What to Bring

Pilgrims often spend long hours outside the hotel and return tired. A room that is organised makes it easier to find clean clothes, keep worn items apart and get ready for the next prayer or outing. A few light items packed at home can save searching for them later.

Hotels differ, and room amenities can change. This guide does not describe what any specific hotel provides. Check with your hotel or travel group before departure, and pack the items you depend on yourself.

Pack at least two reusable bags: one for worn clothing and one for clean clothing you want to keep separate. A third small bag for damp items prevents them from touching dry clothes. Mesh bags are useful because air can move through them, but any clean bag works.

When the worn bag fills up, you can send it out rather than washing in the room. Our hotel pickup and delivery is always free with no minimum order. Iron and fold is 13 SAR/kg for pressing and folding only, without washing; regular washing is quoted on WhatsApp.

Adjust the list for your own needs and the length of your stay. The aim is a small kit that makes daily routines easier, not a large bag of extras you will not use.

If you are unsure whether an item is already provided, ask the hotel before travel rather than relying on online photos or another guest's experience. Room layouts and supplies vary, and a short message to the hotel can save buying duplicates or arriving without something you need.

Rooms are often shared with family members or group companions. Give each person their own worn and clean bags and a clear place for them. When laundry is collected, keep each person's items in a separate labelled bag inside the order so they come back to the right person.

Agree a simple routine, such as putting worn clothing in the bag as soon as you change. That prevents a pile of mixed items building up on chairs or beds, and makes it easier to see what needs washing.

Keep documents, cards and valuables in a separate pouch, never inside a laundry bag. Check pockets before any clothing leaves the room.

Light items such as a few clothes pegs or a small foldable laundry basket can also help in a shared room, but only bring what you will actually use. Every extra item takes space in a suitcase that will also carry gifts and Zamzam water on the way home, so keep the room kit small and practical.

Handover is only at the main lobby or the ground-floor entrance; we cannot go to guest rooms or guest floors. Bring the bag down at the agreed time. The service is independent and not affiliated with any hotel, so ask reception where outside couriers may be met.

Express laundry is 25 SAR/kg with about 3 hours for suitable orders after confirmation. Ihram cleaning is 15 SAR per piece. Choose the option that matches the garment and the time you need it.

Collect any outstanding laundry before your departure day, and leave enough time for return. Check hangers, bathroom hooks and drawers for clothing. Make sure everything is dry before packing it, and keep travel clothes separate from items that still need washing.

Pack the reusable bags last so they are ready for the next stop. If you are moving to another city, a separate bag for worn clothing keeps your clean items fresh during the journey.

Before you close the suitcase, do a final check of the bathroom, wardrobe and bedside areas for small items such as chargers, adapters and medication.
